Product Catalog > Fun Things > Lacqured Deer Skin

These small coin purses are called hayamichi in Japanese and are beautiful examples of the fine art of applying urushi or Japanese lacquer designs to deerskins. This craft dates back more than 400 years and is still popular today. Deer hide is light and strong yet soft and it becomes more pliable with use. All Lacqured Deer Skin purses are approximately 4” wide and 2 ½” tall and Snap-close.
